Are we allowed to sing in a different octave, but in the original pitch of the song?
If you want to sing in a whole different octave, go ahead. As long as
the original song is in the original key, whether you sing it 3 octaves
higher (falsetto all the way!) or 1 octave lower is fine.
Which means, you can sing songs that guys sing even though you're a girl and so on.
